Spray Glass International was appointed to refurbish a 2,200,000-litre steel storage tank at Sedamyl’s Selby facility as part of its expansion programme. The asset had fallen into a derelict condition and required full internal restoration to return it to operational service. The objective was to prepare and protect the internal steel surfaces using a high-performance glass flake coating system suitable for aggressive industrial storage conditions.

Internal surfaces were grit blasted back to bare steel to achieve the required profile for coating adhesion. A multi-layer system was then applied, including Spray Glass LP Primer followed by multiple coats of Spray Glass SG-443 Glass Flake Coating to deliver strong chemical and corrosion resistance. The system was selected to ensure long-term durability in demanding environments, including storage tanks, process vessels, and chemical processing applications. The completed tank was returned to full service with a robust protective lining designed to extend operational life and reduce future maintenance requirements.
